Admit it, the Drug War is a Failure

Hang in there Marc Emery - we'll keep up the fight until you return

Free Marc Emery - His Imprisonment is a Farce!

Today was the day that Marc Emery turned himself over to the authorities in Canada. Right now he is locked up in a jail somewhere in the lower mainland waiting for his extradition papers to be signed by our douche bag Minister of Justice, Rob Nicholson. There’s no hope this Conservative Justice minister will do what is right and stop this travesty so once those papers are signed Marc will be shipped off to Seattle. That’s where he’ll appear in court and get sentenced to an expected 5 years in prison.

5 years is the amount of time Marc plea dealed down to from a possible 50 years behind bars. Marc was still fighting extradition when the DA in Washington offered to let Greg Williams and Michelle Rainey off with just probation - if he did a 5 year stint. Given those options Marc went with the 5 year offer and gave up his extradition fight. Marc and his wife Jodie will be requesting that he be allowed to serve his 5 years in a Canadian prison. The extradition treaty between the USA and Canada does allow for such an arrangement but it isn’t clear whether they will succeed in their request.

All I can say after watching today’s news coverage of Marc’s ordeal is “stay strong Marc". God knows it’s not going to be fun behind bars in the land of the incarcerated but we’ll do all we can to keep the movement going strong. Keep your head held high - you deserve the treatment of Royalty, being the prince of pot that you are. Instead you’re having to endure the treatment of a criminal just because you followed your strong moral compass and decried the evils of the drug war.

Disgusting.

Absurd.

Scary.

Typical of the drug war.

Marc Emery Says Goodbye to Vancouver and the Cannabis Scene He Created

The Vancouver cannabis scene was lucky today - the weather for Marc Emery’s farewell protest was beautiful. It was supposed to be raining heavily in typical Vancouver style but obviously God is on Marc’s side and kept the clouds away.

If you don’t know who Marc Emery is then give this a read. Basically he’s a HUGE cannabis activist who earned millions by selling pot seeds through his seed store and donated 95% of those millions to cannabis activism. In 2005 he was busted by the DEA on Canadian soil while the VPD stood by and watched. The head of the DEA in Washington D.C. on that day called him the biggest drug kig pin in Canada. I’m sure the Hell’s Angels were a little surprised by that claim, I know I was. Trust me DEA, we have bigger fish to fry in Canada than Marc Emery’s pot seeds.

Anyway, today the Vancouver cannabis scene said goodbye to Marc Emery at his last public appearance prior to turing himself over to the US authorities. An act which will signal the start of Marc’s 5 year sentence in a US prison. Of course he still needs to go through the US court system, but he knows his fate. His plea deal called for a 5 year prison stay. Marc’s situation is total bullshit - it’s all over a plant that ought to be legal and taxed instead of illegal and making gangsters rich. Marc’s message is one that if listened to would make such a huge difference in the safety and happiness of our society. But instead he faces prison. Bullshit.

For those that couldn’t make it to Vancouver to say goodbye to Marc here’s a clip I was able to grab…and don’t worry cannabis culture - I guarantee you we haven’t seen the last of Marc. In fact I can’t wait to see what he tries to do from behind bars in the US!

Would you Trade Your Life for 50 Million Dollars?

50 million for snitches Obama? That's not change anyone can believe in!

Would you accept 50 million dollars from the DEA in exchange for information that leads to the arrest of Mexican drug cartel kingpins?

Keep in mind that you won’t have much time to spend that money before you and members of your family face horrifically violent deaths.

So actually, the question is - would you accept 50 million dollars from the DEA in exchange for your life?

Of course the answer is no. It makes no sense to trade your life for cash but that’s exactly what you would be doing by double crossing a drug cartel for cash from cops. It’s called a Colombian necktie for a reason people.

So why does the US Government think that offering 50 million dollars in reward money to cartel snitches will help them win the war on drugs? Nobody is going to take the money. I guarantee right now that the only place that money is going to end up is in police budgets. It will get buried in the enormous heap of cash that gets wasted every year in the name of prohibiting recreational drug use. After all, who’s going to notice a mere 50 million hidden amongst the billions being flushed down the toilet year after year with no results to show for it?

The feds do have it right when they say that the way to hurt the cartels is to go after their money. But going after cartel assets in the US is a retarded strategy and is only making their intentional ignorance all the more apparent. Do they really think the cartels have assets in the US? Give me a break, it’s all a PR farce to distract the public from noticing that the drug war has already been miserably lost.

The real way to hit the cartels in the wallet is to do a 180 on drug policy. End prohibition, set up government run, health focused centers for treating addiction through harm reduction. Provide clean needles and paraphernalia, end criminal prohibitions, regulate and inspect drug manufacturers and buy and sell drugs at cost to eliminate drug related property crimes and prostitution.

I know I rambled a bit there but it pisses me off to see more of the same from Obama’s administration. The facts all point towards changing drug policy drastically so that gangs can’t get rich from prohibition, and instead we get 50 million dollars worth of more of the same.

Pathetic.
